There is hope in the future to run New World on Steam Deck from Jamesdarin's blog

Valve's Steam Deck can provide a very good experience for players, but there are still some criticisms in its positive reviews. The lack of game support for third-party anti-cheat software in this handheld Linux PC is one of its biggest flaws. These include many games like Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Dead by Daylight, and more.

Easy Anti-Cheat is currently unavailable on Amazon's New World and cannot be played on the Steam Deck. However, this may change in the future. While Valve implements support for BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat, it is up to the developer to toggle the switch. While New World was tested on February 15th, unfortunately it was shown as unsupported in the Steam Deck Verified games list, as the game's anti-cheat feature could not be configured for Steam Deck.

Although Valve supports third-party anti-cheating software on the Steam platform, there are still some New World Coins people who cannot balance risks and benefits. Among them, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney is the most famous person expressing the reliability of anti-cheat software on Steam Deck.

"We don't have confidence that we'd be able to combat cheating at scale under a wide array of kernel configurations including custom ones," Sweeney said in a Twitter post.

Although Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive is completely different, New World still holds promise for Steam Deck.

One of the studio representatives, The Verge, said: “I can confirm that we plan on updating our EAC to support the Steam Deck in the future, but we can’t confirm a release date at this time.”
