Can EMF Radiation Exposure Cause Cancer? from Carl Philips's blog

By then painting the walls with metal nano powder-based paint for electromagnetic shielding, you can achieve an even greater reduction in radiation in a space, which is usually desirable when there is a nearby source (for example, at a distance of less than 200 m). The paint can also be used on the floor. These paints provide high radiation attenuation rates - even for very high frequency radiation - and also shield from low frequency electric elds (e.g., from wires, electrical appliances, etc.), but unfortunately not from magnetic ones at 50 Hz.

On walls that have not yet been plastered or on non-laid floors, it is possible to insert a special stainless-steel mesh. Since this mesh is made of stainless steel, it can be easily used outside (for example by nailing it on the outside walls); while the electromagnetic shielding fabric that reflects the wireless radiation can be placed under the sofa or bed, when the radiation source is of lower power (e.g., the neighbor's Wi-Fi modem).

A practical solution for bedrooms is to use screened bed canopies, which are very similar to mosquito nets (but usually much more expensive). They prevent the penetration of radiation from all directions except from the bottom of the bed (but you can put a metal fabric or other shielding material there). With such screens, you get minimal sleep disturbance from current and future wireless radiation sources and take a daily break from electromagnetic pollution. The mesh of the network must be about 1/100 of the wavelength of the radiation to be shielded, or less. In general, a mesh of about 1 mm is sufficient.

The actual attenuation of the radiation depends on the reflection provided by each material but also on the surface coverage. Any unshielded point is a potential penetration point which can reduce the local or overall result of the shield design. The use of major shielding materials that provide 20-40 dB shielding (paints, window films, curtains, canopies and lightweight nets) in more than 50% of the surfaces of the areas intended to be protected usually means a practical reduction of radiation values greater than 90%.

For shielding with higher efficiencies, greater than 99% - which are usually desired when recording RF field values greater than 10,000 μW / m – we recommend the use of materials that provide attenuation greater than 50 dB (paper from special wallpaper, window curtains and bed canopies) or a combination of materials (e.g., curtain and window film), and greater emphasis on prevention in unshielded openings, starting with windows.

For shielding from external sources of radiation, maximum reduction is achieved by shielding windows, walls and roofs facing the source. By shielding the other sides of space, we also reduce the penetration of radiation through reflections.

Furthermore, the shielding of all parts of an environment constitutes a preventive measure of protection against the possibility of the future presence of new external sources of radiation. Obviously, we should NEVER use the mobile phone in the shielded environment, because it would release emissions at a much higher power than normal, with the relative waves that would remain trapped in the room.

To ensure that your smartphone or any other device does not emit any EMF radiations, you can put an EMF blocker like Smartdot on them. Smartdot is a magnetic DOT that can be stuck on all devices to reduce everyday harmful magnetic radiation. To know more about smart dot emf device, read this comprehensive review.
